Children’s profile: 2-4 year olds

Organisation profile: Irish medium educational experiences and support for bi-linugal and non bi-lingual families through pre and pre-pre school services. Opened in 2016.

Project overview:  Provision of pre pre-school places

Staff worked together to create packages of activities for the children to carry out with their parents.  Further support was provided to parents to enable them to support language development with the children.  Simple vocabulary ad phrase structures where shared with accompanying phonetic aids. Setting is based in a rural area and staff encouraged parents to make use of this, to identify hedgerow items, colours and animals to support their language development and in undertaking physical activity and outdoor time.  

Regular communication with the parents was important and the Dojo platform was vital for the sharing of tasks, activities and sending and feedback between staff and parents.
