Practical support to help you run your setting with confidence.

Governance describes the processes that oversee the running of an organisation. In community settings this is normally done by a committee or board made up of volunteers. In an independent or private setting this will be carried out by the owner or directors.

Good governance helps early years settings make sound decisions, meet their responsibilities and stay focused on delivering the best outcomes for children. Early Years provides practical governance support for management committees, owners and leaders across Northern Ireland - from training and guidance to one-to-one advice.

Training and development

Build confidence and capability through governance and leadership training designed for early years settings. Training can help committee members, owners and leaders understand their responsibilities and make informed decisions for their organisation.

One-to-one support

Some governance issues need more than general guidance. Early Years can provide focused one-to-one support for settings that need help working through a particular governance, leadership or sustainability challenge.

Support for management committees and leaders

Governance responsibilities can feel complex, particularly for volunteer management committees or people taking on a leadership role for the first time. Early Years can help you understand what good governance looks like in practice and what your setting needs to have in place.
