Professional Association

Early Years - the organisation for young children and Stranmillis University College are excited to announce our intention to consult on the formation of a Professional Association for Early Childhood Practitioners in Northern Ireland at their joint conference on 9th June. The creation of a professional body would mark a significant milestone for the professionalisation of the Early Learning and Care workforce in NI. Dr. Barbara McConnell, Senior Lecturer in Early Childhood Studies in Stranmillis commented

“All professions; doctors, nurses, teachers, psychologists have a professional body, which is recognised as a voice for the professional practice and of the profession. The Early Childhood workforce in NI do not have such a body and it is something that we feel very strongly is needed locally." Pauline Wamsley, CEO of the Early Years commented " We are delighted to partner with Stranmillis to progress the establishment of a Professional Association for our members and for the Early Childhood workforce in NI.  The vital role this workforce plays in shaping the future needs to be fully supported and this is the next step on that journey.  We hope that delegates at our conference on the 9th June will value the opportunity to discuss the benefits of belonging to such a Professional Association"
